Génération(s) Start Motion, porté par Films en Bretagne et en partenariat avec l’École Européenne Supérieure d’Art de Bretagne (EESAB), est un projet ambitieux de formation initiale, continue et professionnelle. Il vise à renforcer et à renouveler significativement les ressources humaines de l’animation stop-motion en France, accompagnant entre autres une adoption transversale et transformative des nouvelles technologies.
Le projet est complété par ses volets « Green Puppet Lab » (recherche appliquée matériaux-santé-environnement-circularité), Éducation à l’Image, Résidence d’Artistes et Observatoire Appliqué.
Génération(s) Start Motion est un projet co-financé par la Caisse de Dépôts et le Centre National du Cinéma et de l’image animée à la suite de l’appel à projets France 2030 – La grande fabrique de l’image.
Dans le cadre du volet Formation, et en complément du Diplôme National d’Art Animation-Volume, Films en Bretagne lance en 2025 un nouveau cycle de formations continues et professionnelles.
FORMATION : Chargé·e de production animation stop-motion
La réalisation d’un film d’animation en stop-motion est probablement le moyen le plus coûteux de s’exprimer artistiquement. Il est donc essentiel de planifier et d’organiser la production d’un film aussi efficacement que possible. Au cours de cette formation professionnelle, les participant·es apprendront les méthodes essentielles de planification, de budgétisation et d’organisation de la production d’un film en stop-motion. Les aspects juridiques et le financement des films complètent la formation.
Objectifs pédagogiques :
- analyser/décomposer un scénario
- calculer le nombre d’assets (marionnettes, rigs, décors, accessoires…) nécessaires
- établir un planning préliminaire
- établir un budget préliminaire
- structurer une équipe
- contrôler le processus de tournage en production
Méthodes pédagogiques :
Cette formation comprendra des modules dédiés à la maîtrise des bases théoriques ainsi que des exercices pratiques pour s’initier au métier de chargé·e de production. Pour les modules pratiques, les stagiaires seront invité·es à travailler sur un exemple de projet fourni par la formatrice référente.
Un certain nombre des formateur·ices étant anglophones, et, à la fois pour promouvoir l’apprentissage de l’anglais parmi nos participant·es français et pour pouvoir recruter des participant·es internationaux non-francophones, cette formation sera dispensée en anglais.

Angela Poschet is an award-winning Line Producer, Production Supervisor & Manager, Consultant for Animation productions in Europe. Her credits include numerous distinctive and commercially successful film and television projects.
She is the Line Producer on “The House”, a 3x30min eccentric dark animated comedy, produced by NEXUS STUDIOS in London for NETFLIX, which was worldwide released on the 14th of January 2022. Before that she worked as Production Supervisor on Wes Anderson stop-motion movie “Isle of Dogs” and Tim Burton’s Oscar nominated “Frankenweenie”. She line produced the two most successful stopmotion features in Norway: “Solan&Ludvig Herfra til Flaklypa” and “Solan&Ludvig Jul I Flaklypa” in 2012 and 2015. As a Production Manager and Scheduler she was involved in the first Spanish feature produced in stereoscopic: “O Apostolo”; Her portfolio includes the award winning CGI Feature “Maya – The Bee Movie”; Roald Dahls: “Revolting Rhymes“, “Sandman and the Lost Sand of Dreams”, “How to Raise the Moon”. She worked as a Cinematographer on the pre-school series: “Ludovic”, “Dragon and Friends”, “Miffy and friends” and in 1998 most notably, as DoP, she was setting up the very first season of the internationally popular television series, “Bob the Builder,” produced by the prominent HIT Entertainment (which also produced “Thomas & Friends” and “Barney”), received over 20 awards, including a BAFTA Award for “Best Animation” and two Parents’ Choice Awards.

Génération(s) Start Motion, led by Films en Bretagne in partnership with the European School of Art of Brittany (EESAB), is an ambitious training project covering initial, continuing, and professional education. Its goal is to strengthen and significantly renew the human resources in stop-motion animation in France, while supporting a cross-disciplinary and transformative adoption of new technologies.
The project is accompanied by 4 complementary projects: the « Green Puppet Lab » (applied research on materials, health, environment, and circularity), Media Literacy activities, an Artist Residency programme, and an Applied Observatory.

As part of the Training component, and in addition to the National Arts Diploma in Stop-Motion Animation run by EESAB, Films en Bretagne is launching a new cycle of continuing and professional training programs in 2025.
TRAINING : Line producing stop-motion animation films & series
Making a stop-motion animation film is probably the most expensive way to express yourself artistically. It is therefore essential to plan and organise a film production as effectively as possible. In this course, participants will learn the essential methods of planning, calculating and organising the production of a stop-motion film or series. Legal aspects and film financing round off the seminar.
Main Learning Goals:
After the course, the participants will know:
- how to break down a script.
- how to calculate the number of assets (puppets, sets) needed.
- how to make a preliminary schedule.
- how to structure a team.
- how to make a preliminary budget.
- how to control the shooting in production process.
Methods:
The course includes lectures to learn the theoretical basics and practical exercises to learn the craft of line production. For the practical sessions, students are invited to work on their own projects or on a project provided by the teachers.
The course will be taught entirely in English.

Target Audience: Stop-motion artists/technicians looking to move into production, 2D/3D/live-action production managers, and other professionals from the film, TV, and animation industries interested in supervising the production of a stop-motion animation project.
Prerequisites: Being a professional in the audiovisual or film industry. Ideally, participants should be familiar with the general production process (film or series, animation or live-action).
Total duration: 7 days, i.e., 54 hours in person
